This programming area, not available prior to 2009-2010, encourages involvement in the local community (e.g. food shelf, a civic project, senior citizens, adopt-a-family, etc.). It was developed to assist and encourage MNWT chapters to become significantly involved in their local communities, resulting in "community connections"; increase recognition of a chapter's joint ventures with local community organizations, and highlight the following areas:

• Promote Friendship Ventures at least one trimester
• Promote the Outstanding Person with Developmental Challenges award
• Promote the Community Connections Awards
• Promote a community-focused area of the SPM's choosing
• Promote national programming areas that do not fall under MNWT programming area
• Honor chapters who have established outstanding community connections with Year-End Awards with a Community Connection Award

If your District does not have a Community Connections DPM, please have your programming Vice President connect with me. Otherwise, I welcome all Community Connections LPM’s to email me. There are many exciting incentives and recognition for involvement in this programming area, and I want to be sure that I am in contact with as many of you as possible. This year community-focused projects involve families, and specifically military wives and families. The USWT Programming area this year is the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Painters representing 4 districts, including 6 chapters spent the Saturday enjoying service, growth, & fellowship. Service, as we re-painted the boathouse that MnWT built at Camp Friendship. Growth as some members had not painted before and some not at such great heights! Fellowship as members from around the state developed deeper friendships with each other.
