Involvement in the Women of Today is a very fulfilling way to achieve service to your community, personal growth and fellowship with women who share similar interests. If you share our desire to contribute to the growth and vitality of our communities; if you are concerned about the welfare of others in our society; if you have ideas to share; if you want to become more involved; or if you just want to make new friends, the Minnesota Women of Today invite you to become a member.

Saturday October 28, 2006 is "Make a Difference Day." According to the website this special day "began with a simple idea: Put your own cares on hold for one day to care for someone else."

Have you made any plans yet? You do not need to plan a huge shindig to make a difference, however, if you do not have a big event planned visit the Make a Difference Day website and use the idea generator. The website also has a vast amount of information regarding getting volunteers, doing publicity and more.

What can you do on a smaller scale? You can rake a neighbor's lawn. Take a dog for a walk. Collect money or items for an event. You can find a large community project and offer to volunteer your time. At the website mentioned above, under "project ideas" there is a link to an "idea generator." You can be as specific or as general as you wish when selecting your criteria for a project. Whatever you do, be sure to enter your project into the DAYtaBANK at the Make a Difference Day website to be considered for annual honors. Let us also know what your members choose to do. Remember, sometimes all it takes to make a difference is a smile.
