Financial assistance for chapters and individuals is available through several funding options promoted by the MNWT Foundation which raises funds through individual and corporate donations as well as special fundraising events. Chapters can apply for grants for a variety of purposes. The organization recognizes personal and professional growth for its members by offering scholarships to further their education.

Activation of members means getting them involved. Whether it is activation of new members or reactivating seasoned members, it is vital for your chapter to have involved members. This is part of what makes your chapter healthy. With enthusiastic, activated members, your chapter will be able to run a variety of projects, create lasting friendships and increase retention. Having active members in your chapter sets a good example for new members to join and become active themselves. New members join because they want to be active, so be sure to give them the resources they need to succeed.
A new member orientation is a training program for making members feel informed, part of the group and valuable. If we take the time to explain the organization to them, new members will become activated faster and will feel a sense of belonging. A new member orientation should be held within the first month of joining. Since we cover a lot of material in an orientation, it is also a good idea to review the orientation in three to six months. It also is helpful to stop during meetings to explain things to your new members. Having a seasoned member sit by a new member can also be helpful to the new member.Who should do the orientation? Any member can do an orientation. It is helpful if the Membership Vice President and Chapter President are involved.How to do an orientation - Using the Orientation Outline, the job is made easy. This gives you a detailed outline with which to explain Women of Today to the new members. Orientations can be done one-on-one or in a small group setting. Your chapter should have many resources on hand to aid in orientations, including your chapter Plan of Action, chapter newsletters and orientations skits, which are found in the Skits and Stuff manuals.Orientations can also be helpful for your general membership. These orientations can include board training, LPM training, running a project, reporting at meetings and the history of the Women of Today organization. The Membership Management Committee is working on developing mini-orientations for your chapter to use. Look for these orientations on this website.
As members of Women of Today, we are aware of the many opportunities available for personal growth, fellowship and community service. People outside our membership have not had the opportunity to experience the many benefits of our organization. Recruitment is a way to share these opportunities with other women in our communities. New members add a lot to our chapters including:
The first step in successful recruiting is making a list of prospective members. Spend some time with your membership compiling a list of women in your community who may be interested in Women of Today. Keep the list handy and updated and use it to invite women to your events. Membership nights are a great opportunity to share Women of Today with prospective members. Every single thing your chapter does is a membership recruitment opportunity. Invite your prospective members to everything. Options give them a better view of what your chapter is all about. A key to membership recruitment is to ask your prospective members to join your chapter.
Retention is a VITAL part of the four elements of membership. All your efforts in recruitment, orientation and activation lead up to retention. Your chapter needs to retain members who can share their experience and help your chapter thrive. Here are some ideas for aiding in retention:
Goal setting, strategies to meet those goals, and self-reflection are promoted for chapters, local leaders, and state leaders. These evaluations are submitted and reviewed by past and present state leaders with mid-year evaluation being returned for suggested changes or improvements for the individual or chapter to meet intended goals. Year-end evaluations are evaluated and leaders are recognized for the efforts they have made in reaching their stated goals.
